How to empty your mailboxes on a cpanel host

A fast way to empty your email accounts on a cPanel hosting using the Horde webmail client.

Have tested this on 8000+ emails - it works fine - the delete process can take some time and the browser may freeze .. but it does work.

Remember .. if important download your mail first to outlook or Thunderbird and make sure it is accessable even with the internet dis-connected.. Gone is gone!!

  1. Log in to your cpanel or alternatively access your webmail directly by http://www.YOURSITE.com/webmail. If you use the direct url skip steps 2 & 3.

  2. Click 'Email Accounts'    email accounts

  3. Choose the account you want and log in to the webmail
    webmail

  4. When logged in choose Horde
    horde
  5. Choose the mailbox you want to empty

    choose mailbox

  6. SINGLE click on the most recent email you want to delete

    single-click

  7. Now scroll down by clicking and holding the very difficult to see scrollbar. Drg this down to the bottom - I have tested this with 9000+ emails - works fine.
As you drag a counter appears telling you which emails are visible.. When you get to the bottom it will look something like this...

    scroll down

  8. Now hold down the SHIFT key and SINGLE click the last email. All the emails from the first one chosen to the last will be selected.

    single click

  9. Now at the top click the "Delete" button. All the selected mails will be moved to the "Trash" folder.
Select the "Trash" folder from the left side menu and then select all email as above.
    Click "Delete" again.
