A Joomla 1.5 Plugin to show the number of page views anywhere in your content

  • Joomla 1.5
  • plg_jpageviews

This Joomla 1.5 Plugin allows you, with just a short tag, to insert the number of page views (hits) of any article along with the linked title to the page.
As well some standard text can be included before and after the page views number and a left or right float can be specified.

You can download it here - Download  Price €8.00

Joomla 1.5 page views hits Plugin

How it works -

  • It replaces a unique tag {*jpageviews 00 none} (asterisk inserted to prevent parsing) with the number of page views (hits) of the chosen article along, optionally, with the linked title to the page.
  • If the required page views (hits) is the currently displayed page then the number to insert is 00.
  • If you require another page then insert that article id number.
  • If you require a left or right float then use those words, otherwise use none.
  • The text boxes accept html so if you wanted a different text colour, font etc you could apply a class and style it in your css sheet or just add a span styling in the first and last text box.

    e.g. 1st text box - <span style="color:red;">The number of hits for
    3rd text box - visitors.</span>

Installation -

  • Install in the normal way via Extensions-->Install/Uninstall.
  • Enable the plugin via Extensions-->Plugin Manager.
  • Fill in any text you may want in the text boxes.
  • Choose whether you want the article titles and whether the title is linked.

Example -

Below you can see the plugin working if you refresh this page a few times.
The html for this is as follows - (asterisk inserted to prevent parsing)

<ul>
<li>{*jpageviews 00 none}</li>
<li>{*jpageviews 58 none}</li>
<li>{*jpageviews 22 none}</li>
<li>{*jpageviews 239 none}</li>
</ul>

Here the plugin is parsing the tags -

Updates

Version 1.1
Oh happy days, problem with more than 2 digits in the Page ID fixed, just un-install the old version, download version 1.1 and install.
All your page codes will still work. The last example above has a page ID of 239.

Depends if your front page is a static article or a blog layout.
If a blog layout then the page doesn't actually exist anywhere (it's dynamic) so there's no hit info to display.
front page hits?

Hi,

does JPageViews show front page hits? My problem is that none of the other methods seems to show when people visit the home page, or the first article in a category blog.
3 digit issue

Is there any solution to the problem of 3 digit article ids? - is there any php that could be altered to allow it?
Truncates article IDs beyond 2 digits

Don
As indicated by Bob above, the issue is not the counting past 3 digits, but that the article IDs are bigger than 2 digits, therefore I have "The number of hits for difference are 556 visitors" is interpreted as "The number of hits for Multilingual Search Engine Optimisation 1 are 1912 visitors". I am soon to go to 4 digits on my article ids.

Works great for 2 digit IDs. Not usable with this limitation, unfortunately.

Hi Bob,
I wouldn't think it's the plugin as you can see above mine happily counts past 3 figures.
Enable the article hits as per the post below yours and see what happens.
It could be in your database number of integers allowed etc
Excellent Plugin

For the most part the plugin works perfectly, but I have run into one snag that could very well be a fault of my own. All of the articles have the correct number of hits displayed until the id hits three digits. When this happens there is just a blank space where the hits should be.

Any help you can give would be most appreciated.

Thank you!

Is it possible to put the tag in all articles in one time; so without manually putting the tag in each article?

The text fields accept html so you could either apply a class to the text string or just span style it as I've added above.

Could you leave a review at http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/content-statistics/8259/details if you'd be so kind

This is really a great plugin! Well done! It would be perfect if the plugin give flexibility to show the various combination of standard text to be included before and after the page views. e.g: one article show "the number of hits are 115", one show "hits are 115" and the other just "115"...instead of using the same text setting. Anyway, Thank you!! will write the review in JED
Thanks for your kind comment

This is really a great plugin. Been looking around for a plugin like this for ages.

The jPageViews works 100% and does what it says it shall do. Tested it on several sites and got nothing at all to report.

Thanks!!
